So I have to thank Rachel over on Spilled Ink for the two award nominations! She nominated me for both the Beautiful Blogger Award and the Howler Award!
Here are the rules:
1.Copy the Beautiful Blogger Award logo
2. Thank the person who nominated you and create a link back.
3. Nominate seven other bloggers and say a little something about them.
and The Howler
Here are the rules for The Howler Award:
1. Display the award on your blog. This can be in your sidebar or on a special award page
2. Thank the person who gave you the award and link to their blog
3. Give 3 examples of things you would like to see changed in the world
4. Nominate (in your own time) at least 5 bloggers that deserve the award
5. Donate the equivalent of $10 to a charity of your choice (optional)
Things I would like to see changed in the world:
awareness raised for all types of cancer, it’s not just pink! (not to mention the funds actually going to what they should be, oh the scandal behind the komen foundation!)
People need to be better to the earth and each other and if I could find a way to make that happen… oh yeah!
I think lastly I would have to say for governments to be more concerned for their own countries, instead of others!
Blogs I nominate:
Legends of Windemere – Charles is a fun writer, and author who supports fellow writers, if you have not checked out his blog, you should totally head over there and take a look around!
Wide Awake but Dreaming – Cassidy has a great way of sharing her writing journey and is always a fun and often encouraging read.
Winter Bayne – Winter is a fellow Camp NaNoer with a great sense of humor and fun way of writing about life, reading and writing!
Lagrandil – Bruce has some great reviews and essays, and is always ready with a bit of support for a fellow writer.
Maggie Madly Writing – Maggie has great thoughts on more than just a writing journey, but a life journey. As writers we are all on a journey, and sometimes we forget that life is what writing is all about!
Well, that is my nominations this time around, thanks so much again, Rachel! I always love to know when people appreciate my thoughts and writing!
Hey all, since I had to shelf the novel I was working on for camp I decided that I would pull out As Death Tells It and I could use more help! Through the rest of the month I will have a few more polls and surveys for helpful thoughts and ideas for this work in progress! I am really excited for what it will become! With all of your help I think it will be that much better! Here is today’s poll, please fill in your own thoughts on article ideas, as I need more to keep writing! I got such great ideas with what you thought of death so here we are again with more questions!
Yes, I have found my writing mojo again! Camp is BACK ON!!! Come on everyone, we can do this thing!!!
So it is, I have fallen behind on my Camp Project! I was even tempted to quit all together. I don’t know why, I have never felt that way before… and yet… here I am. Sadly dismayed by my poor camp story that I really love! That said… after some really great ideas from friends, I started out with that crazy opposite story, and now… I am back to it! I have had some more ideas and am even hoping in the future that Dreamland and I can maybe do some collaborations on it!
How about you? Is your story going the way you want? Have you switched gears? Are you just dragging through?
I am excited to announce that the Letters of Questioning should be coming back as of next month once a week for the summer! (Maybe longer if we can swing it!) That said I would love to hear from you! my readers what you would love to see in future installments. With that in mind I created a short poll and please do not hesitate to add your own to the list! In fact, please! do that rather than use those I have provided. You can come back as often as you like and add to it! Share it with your friends!
Also, as a quick sidenote, I have updated all previous postings of our letters, adding in Dreamland’s responses!
Another day of Camp NaNo has come and gone. I have not as of yet completed todays word count, but the words have come easier today. And to top it off, not only have they come easier, but they have also been on the main storyline, not the fun version which is great news for me! Sometimes it seems all you need, when the words are not flowing is a bit of creative distraction to get the juices flowing!
On to some other news, it looks as if the Letters of Questioning will hopefully come back as of next month!!! That said I am going to hopefully tomorrow create a poll for what you would like to see as topics for the Letters, so keep that in mind!
How is everyone else doing? Camp staying on par? Running behind? No worries, it is still early in the month, plenty of time to catch up!
Well, this update is coming a bit late, but I struggled ALL day with my word count. Could not get anything out. For the first time ever I have a complete outline (that I did in just a couple of days) and I even know the plot before writing the story! These are big things for me! But what I am finding is… I have not been able to write. I don’t know if the characters are just that shy that they are not really speaking through me, or if I am stuck thinking about my outline. All I know is I was well and truly stuck! managing only 36 whole words before 10 pm tonight!
Well, all of that has changed thanks to one of my wonderful writerly friends!!! Her suggestion… well let me warn you it was totally off the wall crazy! (So crazy it just might work!) *falls over giggling*
Anyway, the idea was this: Write the exact opposite of your outline. Instead of people coming in killing, have a group of good guys coming in and giving hugs, and instead of keeping the main character alive, maybe they accidentally kill her off. Now I don’t know what is exactly is going to happen from all of this nonsense, but let me tell ya, in 15 minutes I had managed over 750 words! And it was fun, and I know for a fact I even managed to learn several details about my story!
That said, never be afraid to play with your work! It doesn’t matter if it is just going to be tossed. Even taking fifteen minutes to be silly, you never know what you will get. Hey! I am even thinking the whole tone of my story might change from this! The serious piece I was starting to write, just might change to a satire piece, or just something light and fluffy! You never know where the writing trails may lead! One of the best things about NaNo!
How about you? Are you managing to get your word count? Or are you stuck like I was? If so, take my friends advice! Even take one scene and write it the opposite of what you have, who knows where it might take you! If you do I would love to hear from you! Either way, let me know how the writing is going!
In true me fashion I of course can not seem to keep my poor neglected blog up to date, even with all my good intentions! However I am still writing like crazy and have TONS of writerly updates I hope to soon get to… That said, I don’t want to waste any time, as I want to get back to my Camp NaNo story!
Just a quick update as to what I am writing… I of course had a last minute change in story ideas a couple days before NaNo began! I am now writing some type of “political/class/social structure” piece. No I have no clue how that happened! *grins*
My current synopsis for those who are interested:
A group of disgruntled “Undesirables” or ‘The Tyrants’ as they call themselves, take over Academy Hill, killing many in the process. What do they want? No one really knows, but it leads to a social breakdown the likes of which has never been seen before. Maybe now the antiquated class system and social structure can be tossed for good!
I hope to manage at least 25,000 words for this, just to give me a bit of an outline to work with later! Hope the weather is treating everyone well! Who else is participating in Camp? What are you writing? Are you off and running? Can’t wait to hear from you!
