Everyone, I am so excited! I have been given a release date for the anthologies I am in!

April 14th they are going to be available for purchase!

So that means that you should get ready for the great stories you can pick up! I am in three seperate anthologies this time around! There is Tattoos & Knitting in the Literary Fiction anthology.  I have two in the scifi/fantasy edition, Stimulus for the scifi piece and Home for the fantasy piece.  Lastly I have Running Late in the horror edition!

I hope that you will be able to enjoy these reads as well! As soon as I have links for purchase I will share them with you, but I had to share the wonderful news that there would be more published works that you could pick up!

I also wanted to say that I am sorry for not posting daily, it is Camp NaNo and I am focusing my attention on the cookbook I am working through. I would share that with you, but I kind of would like to keep it under wraps until it is further along.

I will post some more updates soon!  And you will still continue to receive Letters of Questioning and I may also find some time for letters or at the least postcards from Camp!

Life: Healing? Maybe? I hope.

Hey all, just another really quick update!  I am hoping that I will be back starting Monday! My foot is trying to improve, turns out that I prolly managed to actually tear the ligament and sprain my foot, so the dislocation was just the very visible part of everything!

It is healing, and now it is just a billion shades of black and blue. The whole front half of my foot!  I am finally able to limp some, and am finally not trapped in bed all day every day, so yay!

Next up, keeping up with my Flash Fiction a Day challenge, and next month, next month is April and that means Camp NaNo! So hey… maybe I will dust off my stationary and see if I can send you letters from camp!  My goal for this camp I think will be to do 2 Flash Fictions a day, so that I can actually manage to end the year with the 365 Flash Fiction Stories that I am hoping for!

What about all of you?  Do you sometimes find it hard to dust yourself off as well?  Are you going to be participating in Camp NaNo?  Let me know! Let’s get through it together!

Today: A bit behind

Hey all, sorry I know this is coming at you late today, and I don’t have a story for you, but I will soon I promise! Please bare with me, as I have a submission due date fast approaching! I only have three more stories to finish rewriting and then the grammar edits.  Then… I send them off, and hopefully I will be selected to have more pieces published! It is exciting.  So that is why I sadly do not have any flash pieces coming at you.

I appreciate your patience!  What about you? Do you find that deadlines sometimes make you miss other things that you really want to be doing? Do deadlines ever get you behind schedule in the rest of your life?

Officially Published!

Hello world!  I am finally back!  I know, it was a long absence, even for me.  But I have spent the time learning how to live with Celiacs, and a new way to eat!  I have also been focusing more on my writing and it has paid off in an amazing and big way!  I am officially published!  A month or two ago I was published in an anthology for Emerging MN Authors, and then… they contacted me and said, we would like your piece for our National Edition which came out today!  Can you believe it?!?

So, for any of you who are interested, please take a look!  This is the National Edition, I am in Volume One.  Here is a direct link, and I do get a small kick back if you purchase from my link.  That is how they reward their writers.

Some Lists to Come

Well, I have had a few posts written and wouldn’t you know it, I forgot to set them up to post… so you will soon be seeing some posts of lists. Why? well because I found lists elsewhere of course! I mean… isn’t half the fun of blogging following what others are doing or have done? Alright, I don’t usually jump on bandwagons or even do things that others are doing… but I thought the lists were fun, so in the following days you will see a few lists from me.

Hope all is well in your little parts of the blogosphere, I am still just trying to stay afloat! (Oh, and I discovered minecraft, so you must forgive me… it would seem that would have been better served being called MineCrack! Yes, it IS that addicting!)

Inspiration Station: First Impressions

To good not to share with you all!

Rachel Poli

I don’t know about you, but when I meet someone new I always take mental notes on their mannerisms and what they say. First impressions are everything.

When a reader meets a character for the first time, how do you want them to feel about the character?

Should the reader love your character? Maybe they’re supposed to hate the character. Or maybe the character comes off sweet at first, but the reader slowly learns to dislike the character and vice versa.

There are many traits you can use to describe the personality and mannerisms of your characters.

–General traits (ambitious, dull, funny, witty, vain, etc.)
–Good/bad habits (social butterfly/anti-social, etc.)
–Hobbies (dancing, writing, loves playing games, etc.)

What kind of emotion does your character typically show? Is he or she cheery in the most dire situations or maybe they’re sad all the time.

What about their knowledge? Do they love…

That Like Button

Has Facebook ruined social media of any form? I have a blog to interact with people… Yet no matter what I try to interact with my readers, it would seem that even here, a place full of writers, we don’t take the time to comment… Instead we just click on the little like button…  It makes me wonder about other things as well. I recently watched a video online that I really thought was very inspiring and thought provoking… I will share it with you here:

So what do you think? Do we spend too much time on our electronics?  Do we spend all our time with short cuts, not writing things out?  Looking at posts and thinking TLDR?  What are your thoughts?

Blog Motivation

So having struggled to really find an idea that spoke to me for a few days now, I asked some friends what it is that they would like to see if they were looking to read a writing blog. One of the topics asked for was How to get and stay motivated to work on my blog. She went on to say, I have lots of posts in my brain, but have yet to find a way to hook my brain to my computer and download the posts.

This is a great topic! I have often found myself floundering. And it also gave me the idea for a couple posts, because in addition to this one, you get to look forward to a piece of fiction from me, dealing with the downloading from the brain! *grins* You know you are all dying to read that one! So, here we go, how to stay motivated:

  1. First off, try to have several posts done ahead. The reason I say this is because it is so much easier to maybe come back to it a little later if you really need to, without the pressure of, Oh My GERD, it is due to post in twenty minutes!!! *grins* and yes I have done that more than a time or two, hehehe.
  2. Secondly, keep an actual written list of your ideas. Update this list any time you have an idea, so that you have a ready place to go when you are not feeling inspired.
  3. Thirdly, write on a topic that actually interests you at the moment. Yes, you have created a marvelous list of ideas, but if they are not inspiring you at the moment, write on something else. Your lack of interest will show! You have thought of the ideas for a reason, so give them all the passion they deserve!

There you have it, three easy and quick steps for finding and keeping the motivation to write your blog posts! What do you do to find the motivation for working on your blog when you are feeling less than motivated? Do you keep a list of ideas? Do you just write randomly? Do you work ahead in your blog? Let me know!!!

Just How Often

boss-fight-stock-images-photos-free-photography-coffee-mug-calendar-960x636I have to say… as I have been working on getting my blog rolling again I have put a lot of thought into just how often I should be posting. I don’t know that I want to post every day, but I also know me… when I don’t post every day it seems to slip a little long, and then a little longer, and pretty soon I am failing to post once more!  That is not what I want. I love the blogging world. I love all my blogging friends! There is a sense of community here you don’t find on other areas of the interwebs.

So I ask you, my marvelous readers… how often would you like to see posts?
